# Checks and completion refusals (/docs/production/checks-and-completion-refusals) When the system refuses a step, it shows the message and changes nothing. Find the message below. Placeholders such as `{lot}` stand for the real value. Messages shared by every flow (signature authority, missing reason, access letters, the training gate, signed-record locks) are explained in [Signatures and refusals](/docs/get-started/signatures-and-refusals). ## Record in-process checks (IPQC) [#record-in-process-checks-ipqc] For [Record in-process checks](/docs/production/in-process-checks). | Message | When | What to do | |---|---|---| | `No inspection plan for this product. Add characteristics in Engineering so readings can be recorded.` | The product has no inspection plan. | Ask Engineering. | | `Enter every characteristic for the patrol check.` | A characteristic has no reading. | Enter all readings. | | `A reading is out of tolerance. Record the action taken before saving.` | A reading is **Out** and **Action taken** is empty. | Write the action: hold, adjust or segregate. | | `STOP · Gauge {gauge} is not in the gauge register.` | The typed gauge is unknown. | Use a registered gauge. | | `STOP · Gauge {gauge} is {status} and cannot be used.` | The gauge is not **In use**. | Use another gauge. | | `STOP · Gauge {gauge} has no calibration on record. Record and approve its first calibration before use.` | No calibration exists. | Ask QA. | | `STOP · Gauge {gauge} calibration expired on {date}. When several were, the first is named and the message ends "(and \{n\} more)". | Measure it with the planned gauge. | | `{order} is {status}. Put it on hold before raising a disposition.` | **Submit for QA** on a lot that is not held. | Put the lot on hold or in quarantine first. | | `Describe the nonconformity` | **Nonconformity** is empty. | Describe it. | | `Enter the justification or evidence for {disposition}` | **Justification / evidence** is empty. | Write it. | | `Enter a new expiry later than {date or the current one}` | **Shelf-life extension** without a later **New expiry**. | Enter a later date. | | `Customer-owned stock: enter the customer concession reference` | **Use as is** on consignment stock. | Enter **Customer concession ref.** | | `The QA approver must be someone other than the requester` | The requester chose **Approve disposition** or **Reject**. | Ask another QA manager. | | `Use as is is a concession. Link the NCR before approving.` | **Approve disposition** for **Use as is** with no **NCR**. | Link the NCR. | | `Enter the rework record in Completion record` or `Enter the return / debit note in Completion record` | **Complete disposition** for **Rework** or **Return to supplier** with no **Completion record**. | Enter it. | | `{lot} is {status} now. End the job without counts to close the timer only.` | Typed counts on a tablet-counted run. | Complete the run on the tablet. | | `{n} pieces (good plus scrap) is more than 110% of the order quantity {qty} (at most {max}). Close the NCR with its disposition before releasing or re-inspecting.` | The lot is held under an open NCR. | Close the NCR. | | `Lot {lot} is on hold. Clear the hold first.` | **OQC pass** on a held lot. | Clear the hold. | | `Enter the number of critical, major and minor defects found in the sample.` | The defect counts are empty. | Enter all three. | | `A defect count cannot be above the sample size (n = {n}). Check the counts entered.` | A count exceeds the sample. | Check the counts. | | `Verify the UDI labels, lot number and pouch count on the sampled cartons first.` | **OQC pass** with the label check not ticked. | Verify the cartons, then tick. | | `The sample is above an accept number.
