# Machine floor refusals (/docs/production/floor-refusals)

When the system refuses a step, it shows the message and changes nothing. A scan refusal is also written
to the audit trail. Find the message below. Placeholders such as `{machine}` stand for the real value.

Messages shared by every flow (signature authority, missing reason, access letters, the training gate,
signed-record locks) are explained in
[Signatures and refusals](/docs/get-started/signatures-and-refusals).

## Line clearance [#line-clearance]

For [Clear the line](/docs/production/line-clearance).

| Message | When | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| `Line not clear: confirm {checks}` | **Sign · line cleared** while a check is not **Yes**. The checks are parts, labels, material, documents and cleaning. | Clear the cell and set every check to **Yes**. |

| `{machine} is running {order}; complete or pause it first.` (on **Sign · line cleared** or **Verify clearance**) | Another order is still in setup or production on the machine, so the line cannot be cleared for the next one. | Complete or pause the running order first, then clear and verify the line. |
| `Line clearance must be for the machine of its order: {order} runs on {machine}, not {given}.` | The clearance names another machine. | Use the order's machine. |
