# EHS officer (/docs/roles/ehs-officer)

Default demo person: Nurul Aini, EHS officer. This page describes the default access of the **EHS officer** role. The Org admin can change it under **Settings > Roles & permissions**; see [Roles at a glance](/docs/roles).

## What you do [#what]

You keep the environmental and safety records: aspects, monitoring, waste, risk assessments, permits to work, inspections, incidents, contractors and the legal register.

## Where you start [#start]

Sign in, choose your workspace, and the apps launcher opens. It shows one tile for each module your role can open. **My work** carries a number when records are waiting for you.

Your queue on **Home > Queue** (My work): Nothing by default. The My work list stays empty for this role.

## What you can do [#can]

You have full access to: EHS. You can create, edit and take steps there.

Steps you sign, with the button names on screen:

A signed step needs your [e-signature specimen](/docs/get-started/signatures-and-refusals#specimen) and, where a requirement is set, current training.

## What you can see but not change [#view]

View access: Purchasing, Inventory, Production, Quality, Maintenance. You can open and read these. Their action buttons are disabled with `Your role can view this but not change it.`

## What you cannot do and who does it [#cannot]

| Open the machine tablet or phone scan | Production roles | The floor opens for floor roles only; EHS is not one. |
| Release a lot or sign quality records | QA manager | `This step needs a QA manager signature. You are signed in as Nurul Aini (EHS officer).` |
| Open Sales, Engineering or Settings | Org admin can change access | `Your role has no access to Sales.` |

Hidden for your role: Sales, Engineering, Settings. They do not appear on the launcher. If you open one by address you see **You do not have access to this page** and **Back to apps**.

## A typical day [#day]
